This alternative movie poster is a lighthearted approach for the campy 2006 movie about the life of Marie Antoinette, the eponymous French queen from Sofia Copolla. The image is a stylized portrait of Marie Antoinette with a French style coiffure topped with flowers, pomegranates, birds, and macaroons. The cascading tendrils of hair frame her neck, which is slashed with red, symbolic of her notorious death. Her face is done up like a china doll.
This alternative movie poster is an homage to the campy sparkle fest Moulin Rouge directed by Baz Lurhmann and starring Nicole Kidman, Ewan McGregor, Jim Broadbent, and John Leguizamo. The main image is a stylized version of Nicole Kidman’s character Satine, the Sparkling Diamond, with the caged bird symbolizing her antrapment throughout the movie. The scarlet dabs around her neck also hint to her impending death at the end of the movie.
Sneak peek at some progress shots of some new posters. can you guess the movies? Yeah, Moulin Rouge and Marie Antoinette, respectively. Hope to do justice to the campy films by Baz Lurhmann and Sofia Coppola.
A little poster inspired by the movie adaptation of the classic, Caldecott medal winning children’s book “Where the Wild Things Are” by Maurice Sendak. The eyes of the Wild Things peek out of the forest around the stylized crown to represent Max, the main character of the story. I tired to imbue this piece with a sense of whimsy and ethereal light akin to the novel and its movie adaptation.
Based of the marvelous sci-fi treat Rise of the Planet of the Apes, this alternative movie poster’s imagery plays off one of the main themes of the movie. The image is an interpretation of “The Creation of Man” by Michaelangelo, using Ceaser, the film’s main ape protagonist reaching towards the gloved hand of a scientist to ignite the spark of sentience.
Some progress work on a movie poster for Black Swan, the 2010 Darren Aronofsky psychosexual thriller starring Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis. I think I worked out the contrast between the black and white negative space finally, and like the way its going so far.
What does this guy have to do with the creation of humankind? I guess we will find out by watching the new Ridley Scott feature, ‘Prometheus’. This poster is an homage to the new movie and one of the most iconic sci-fi images in movie history. If you are a fan of the new movie, Ridley Scott, or the series in general- or know someone who is- then show your love with this poster print! The main image features the iconic image of the ‘space jockey’, with a hint to the original designer H. R. Giger.
