Inspired by Black Swan, the 2010 movie by Darren Aronofsky, that showed the psychological fracturing and decline of a professional ballerina trying against all odds to play the part she knew she was meant to play. Using the white feathers to encroach upon the black swan character mirrors the omnipresent white swan persona that pushed against Nina, played by Natalie Portman, before being finally consumed by the black swan and incidentally ending it all.
Cygnus floats daintily on the gently lolling waters of his favorite pond.
“Cygnus” represented by the black swan, is the first in my new series of paintings, “Constellation Fauna”. This series pertains to the constellations and their real or not so real animal counterparts. The image is an illustrated painting of the animal covered with the constellation bearing its name.
This listing is for a print of the original painting, on Epson Velvet Fine Art Paper Matte Finish sized 11x14 with white border of .25 inches.
