re-imagined Alien movie posters by Aaron Wells :: via etsy.com

Many thanks to Heyoscarwilde for showing this gallery of my posters!

In creating these, I really just wanted to focus on the token ETs from the series, and in a minimal manner while retaining my painterly style. The images were to rely on the contrast between the negative and positive space to create the main, simple shape of the aliens and their terrifying teeth.

I also added a poster to the series for the non-prequel Prometheus that released back in June:

This alternative movie poster is an homage to the trippy fantasy/sci-fi drama ‘The Fountain’ by Darren Aronofsky. The main image is an illustration of Hugh Jackman’s character in the final stage of the movie, moving through space towards an area known as Xebulba by the Mayans, encased in a biosphere. The orb is reminiscent of an atom, flying through the microcosmos, as a sort of metaphor for the Victorian idea of conception, as he flies into the dying cluster of stars and Nebulae in order to bring his wife back to life.

Based of the marvelous sci-fi treat Rise of the Planet of the Apes, this alternative movie poster’s imagery plays off one of the main themes of the movie. The image is an interpretation of “The Creation of Man” by Michaelangelo, using Ceaser, the film’s main ape protagonist reaching towards the gloved hand of a scientist to ignite the spark of sentience.
