Based of the marvelous sci-fi treat Rise of the Planet of the Apes, this alternative movie poster’s imagery plays off one of the main themes of the movie. The image is an interpretation of “The Creation of Man” by Michaelangelo, using Ceaser, the film’s main ape protagonist reaching towards the gloved hand of a scientist to ignite the spark of sentience.
Some progress shots on a poster for the Rise of the Planet of the Apes. I decided to go with an homage to the “Creation of Man”, rather than my previous idea, which ended up looking more like a Mt. Rushmore for the apes.
